Science to Society: The connection between research and society

In addition to our core areas of teaching and research, the IPB also collaborates with society, the media, and policymakers to make health promotion and climate protection more accessible and people-centered.

This area, called Science2Society, forms a dedicated pillar at the IPB. Its goal is to strengthen the role of science as a foundation for political and societal decision-making and to foster dialogue between journalists, policymakers, citizens, and scientists.

To this end, we are actively engaged in science communication by developing materials that translate findings from the social and behavioural sciences into practical tools for users. These may include handbooks, flyers, podcasts, or articles on a science blog.

We are also involved in a variety of science transfer activities, such as participating in political advisory boards or offering lectures and workshops for public authorities, decision-makers, and foundations.

Last but not least, we communicate our research findings to a broad public through contributions to traditional media outlets.

Our position: We are convinced that...

  • measures to protect climate and promote health must be grounded in behavioural science.
  • health promotion and climate protection should be planned together and from a human perspective.
  • measures should be designed in ways that society can support and sustein.
  • citizens should acitively participate in shaping health promotion and climate protection.
