European Entanglements in Abyssinia: Collecting, Knowledge Production and Violence in the 1860s
Based on three different but closely linked European expeditions to Abyssinia, the project analyses the encounter between the groups of actors involved, the trans-European networks associated with them and their practices of collecting artefacts, knowledge production and (scientific) management and communication. The use of violence in its various manifestations will also be a central point of analysis.
