Personal Information

Trang Huyen Christ holds a BA in International Trade Law from Foreign Trade University in Hanoi, an MA in European Studies from the Centre international de formation européenne (CIFE) in Nice, France, and a PhD in Sociology from the Max Weber Centre for Advanced Cultural and Social Studies at the University of Erfurt, Germany.

Research Focus

Trang Huyen Christ’s research examines migration, illegality and marginality, with particular attention to undocumented migrants’ experiences of legal and economic precarity and their involvement in informal and illicit economies. A central concern is how migrant illegality is produced, experienced and contested, and how marginalised migrants navigate and sometimes rework conditions of exclusion and criminalisation in making livelihoods, seeking recognition and pursuing future possibilities.
