Konrad Feiereis (1931–2012) was one of the most important intellectual figures of the Catholic Church in the GDR. As a professor of Philosophy at the Philosophical-Theological College in Erfurt, he influenced generations of theologians during the communist dictatorship and after reunification. He played a key role in the dialogue between Christianity and Marxism and in the debate with atheism. As a pastor, he translated the Christian message into the present and gave a certificate of the hope of Christians even in adverse times.

This volume provides an introduction to the life and work of this fascinating thinker and crossover artist from a personal and scholarly perspective and highlights his lasting significance.

The authors
Professor Thomas Brose is a philosopher and religious journalist. He was active in the Peaceful Revolution of 1989 and has campaigned for the Berlin Guardini Chair to be seen as an inspiration for encounters with secular society. He is involved in the religious dialogue in the capital, is a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and Vice President of the Guardini Foundation.

Professor Holger Zaborowski holds the Chair of Philosophy at the Faculty of Catholic Theology at the University of Erfurt. He was previously Professor of History of Philosophy and Philosophical Ethics at the Philosophical-Theological University of Vallendar and its Rector. He is a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Cusanus University of Social Sciences.
