Department of Christian Social Sciences and Christian Social Ethics

Christian Social Ethics primarily focuses on ethical criteria which shape societal institutions to promote greater justice for all.

The focus of the Erfurt Chair for Christian Social Science and Social Ethics is:

  • on global ethics, with a particular emphasis on extreme poverty,
  • women's rights and human rights,
  • a major focus is also on business ethics,
  • ecological ethics,
  • political ethics,  
  • ethics of social security and social policy,
  • as well as contemporary theories of justice.

A particular focus of research is on the question of the justification of norms in postmodern times.
