Working on the Web
No matter whether you use the possibilities of the Internet to the full extent and support it, it is impossible to imagine our work without it. Fortunately! However, the range of offers is diverse, it is constantly developing and with the possibilities the risks grow (e.g. data protection and image rights).
We would like to support you in presenting your content on the Internet in an appealing and legally compliant manner, in finding the right channels and in reaching an interested audience.
Working as TYPO3 editor on the university website
The university's website, which you can reach at www.uni-erfurt.de, is maintained with the Content Management System (CMS) "TYPO3". The central pages are the responsibility of the Staff unit University Communications. The maintenance of the decentralized pages of the faculties, departments, (student) committees, university groups or projects is in the hands of various authorized editors.
On the pages of Computer Help you will find information on working with TYPO3, on how to register as an editor and on the dates for TYPO3 training, which is a prerequisite for working on our pages.
Risks and benefits of social networks
Do I have to join TikTok now because everyone is talking about it? No, of course you don't. But the social media landscape is diverse. And with it are the opportunities that the various networks offer in terms of reaching an interested audience and networking with the (scientific) community.
Each of the networks – Instagram, YouTube, Bluesky, LinkedIn and academia.edu, to name but a few – has its own individual focus, its own legal guidelines and a specific user approach. There is no such thing as an ‘all-rounder’. Although Instagram is currently probably the best-known and most far-reaching public network (for the 20 to 50-year-old target group).
We would be happy to discuss the possibilities that social networks can offer you and advise you on how to set them up in a legally compliant manner.
Legal pitfalls (data protection, etc.)
Those who do not communicate cannot make mistakes. But of course they are also not noticed. Anyone who wants to communicate, especially on the web, has to pay attention to a few things.
But that should not stop you from using the possibilities of the Internet. Because communication on the web is direct, faster, has a greater range and is generally more environmentally friendly.
We have provided you with information on the most common pitfalls and would like to remind you once again to observe the guidelines. Violations of the law on the net are not a trivial offence and are often punished with very expensive penalties.
- Why am I not allowed to publish a press review digitally (website, Facebook & Co.)?
- When do I run the risk of violating copyright? (pictures, texts, videos)
- Why do I have to have an imprint and a privacy policy on my pages and what data must be included? (Our data protection officers will be happy to answer any questions on the subject area of data protection at Datenschutz@uni-erfurt.de)
- Why am I, as the operator of a fan page together with Facebook, responsible for data protection and what do I have to do?
- What do I have to consider when creating a digital semester set?
