Staff Council

Welcome

on the homepage of the Staff Council of the University of Erfurt.

The Staff Council is elected every five years by the employees of the University. The election of the Staff Council, its tasks, its rights and the key points of its work organization are regulated in the Thuringian Staff Representation Act (ThürPersVG), this Act was amended on 28.05.2019.

The staff council was elected in May 2022, the legislative period ends on 31.05.2027.

Tasks

The tasks and associated rights and duties of the Staff Council are governed by the Thuringian Staff Representation Act (ThürPersVG). The ThürPersVG was amended as of 08.06.2019. The current version can be found here. Especially the 8th part of the law (§ 66 to § 82 b) deals with the participation of the staff representation. Section 68 describes the general tasks of the staff representation as follows:

  1. To request measures that serve the department or its members,
  2. to ensure that the laws, ordinances, collective agreements, service agreements and administrative orders applicable in favor of the employees are implemented,
  3. to receive suggestions and complaints from employees and, if these appear justified, to work towards their settlement by negotiating with the head of the department,
  4. to promote the integration and professional development of severely disabled persons and other persons in need of protection, in particular older persons,
  5. to promote the integration of foreign employees into the department and understanding between them and German employees,
  6. to promote the enforcement of the actual equality of women and men within the meaning of the Thuringian Equal Opportunities Act,
  7. to apply for measures for the professional advancement of severely disabled persons and to work towards promoting the conclusion of inclusion agreements in accordance with Section 166 of the Ninth Book of the Social Code,
  8. to cooperate closely with the Youth and trainee representation to promote the interests of the employees referred to in Section 57,
  9. to work towards maintaining data protection for all employees,
  10. to promote the compatibility of professional and private life.

The monthly meeting between the head of the department and the Staff Council, in which the representative body for severely disabled persons and the Youth and trainee representation also take part, is of particular importance (Section 66). § Section 88 regulates the special features of this Act in the higher education sector.
