Guest Lecture: "In Search of Traces in the Amploniana

"In search of clues in the Amploniana - What books can tell us about history and stories" is the title of the next guest lecture in the series "Amploniana. Bildungsgeschichte(n)" of the working group "Amploniana" at the University of Erfurt. The event will take place in digital format on Thursday, 24 June. The speaker is the historian and classical philologist Sven-Philipp Brandt, who works in the special collection of the University Library of Erfurt. The event will begin at 7.15 pm.

The aim of the series is to make the knowledge and cultural history of the "Bibliotheca Amploniana" accessible to a wider public. In his lecture, Sven-Philipp Brandt will give a detailed insight into the work of scholarly in-depth indexing of medieval codices. He will take the guests on an exploratory tour through a selected medieval manuscript volume of the Amploniana and reconstruct the "life story" of the volume on the basis of various clues, which is like a journey through the European Middle Ages of the 14th and 15th centuries.

The lecture will take place online and will be moderated by Prof. Dr. Sabine Schmolinsky. Afterwards, there will be the opportunity to ask questions via the chat function. All interested parties are cordially invited.
