Published in collaboration with Jannis Julien Grimm and Iman El Ghoubashy Ilyas Saliba: Understanding the Transnationalisation of Violence: An Attempt to Systematise Mapping Projects in the Context of the Gaza War in the Journal of International Relations, 33 (1). The aim is to systematise the thematically and methodologically diverse mapping initiatives that have emerged in the context of Gaza, ranging from individual case databases through event catalogues and surveys to qualitative data collections. Through an analysis of initiatives concerning 1) violence in Gaza and Israel, 2) transnational solidarity, and 3) restrictions on fundamental rights, methods and data sources are critically examined, their epistemic implications discussed, and blind spots and data distortions identified, with a view to stimulating a critical engagement with these mapping projects within the social and regional sciences. Under the title *The Authoritarian Convergence against Academic Freedom in Germany: Political Interference, Securitisation, and the Weaponisation of Antisemitism Allegations*, Dörthe Engelcke and Ilyas Saliba on a different topic: academic freedom in Germany. Using the examples of the politicisation of research funding, political interference in academic freedom, university autonomy, the securitisation of higher education institutions, and the role of anti-Semitism officers, they analyse potential changes to and restrictions on academic freedom and associated rights – including freedom of assembly, expression and association – which are shaped by two intersecting trends: the rise of authoritarian forms of anti-Semitism in the context of German raison d’état, and a more general shift towards increasing authoritarian practices in Germany.
