Diversity Days at Thuringian universities: Uni Erfurt is part of it!

The University of Erfurt is participating in the Diversity Days, to which the Thuringian universities are inviting from May 16 to June 3, 2022. There are various events and activities open to university members.

For example, the Health Day, which will be held on May 19, will revolve around the topic of "Health & Family". Olympic champion and world champion Kristina Vogel will also be a guest and will give a short speech. The Representative body for severely disabled persons has planned an information booth "University inclusive" for the health day and has organized a wheelchair in which you can test for yourself how wheelchair accessible our campus is. Kristina Vogel will give a short "campus tour" in her wheelchair at 11 a.m. and point out any weak points in barrier-free accessibility.

The barrier-free design of websites is the topic of the information stand of the web team of the University of Erfurt during the Health Day. Claudia Behnke-Hermann and Eric Schümann will explain what it means to design a website according to the rules of barrier-free accessibility and why you "have" to do this work. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., they invite you to discover the university website on your PC from the perspective of different user groups with individual technical and physical requirements. And explain why the often not so great extra effort in designing websites is worthwhile.

As part of the Academic Career and Qualification Programme, a diversity competence training for early-stage researchers will take place on May 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. And under the title "#outinchurch", the Faculty of Catholic Theology is organizing a study day on May 10 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Coelicum on Domstraße.

In addition, the Equal Opportunity Office will offer an awareness workshop for students on May 25 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Frauenenzentrum Brennessel e.V. – Center against Violence against Women. There is another information offer on May 19: Then the "Queeres Zentrum Erfurt", which was opened in September 2021, is represented with an information and meeting stand on campus from 11 am to 5 pm.

"Diversity is important to us – it is an integral part of our university's profile and thus also on site every day on campus. We view diversity as an opportunity in this regard. We can benefit together from an open and constructive approach to diversity, individuality and plurality," explains the University of Erfurt's Diversity Officer, Niklas Radenbach. "With our participation in the Diversity Days of the Thuringian universities, we would like to reaffirm this."
