Pursuing a PhD at the junior research group

A doctorate is more than just an individual journey – it is a shared process that we actively shape within the Research Training Group. Regular events, project presentations and one-to-one supervision sessions provide structure and guidance. Our doctoral candidates are part of a vibrant, transdisciplinary network of religion-related research, characterised by thematic affinities and great diversity.

Intensive exchange is particularly important in this context. Through dialogue, ideas flourish, research questions are refined and new perspectives are discovered. Our events provide space for experimentation, shared reflection and mutual inspiration. The cultural diversity and variety of our members are just as enriching as the broad spectrum of specialist knowledge contributed by researchers from two faculties.

The junior research group provides the infrastructure and academic environment in which doctoral candidates acquire skills that are essential for their future work as researchers: 

• the ability to articulate their own research topic, as well as a broad range of current issues in religion-related research, in both national and international contexts
• Experience with academic publications and conferences
• The ability to communicate effectively in academic teaching
• The ability to engage in academic collaboration and teamwork
• The ability to communicate effectively with the general public
