Short vita

After studying Political Science, German Studies, and Sociology in Münster, Freiburg i.Br., and Hamburg and earning a diploma in Political Science (1988), Andreas Anter was initially an employee at the Chair of Political Theory at the University of Hamburg, where he received his doctorate in 1994 for his work on "Max Weber's Theory of the Modern State" (3rd ed. Duncker & Humblot 2014).

He then spent seven years as a literary editor at Rowohlt Verlag (Reinbek near Hamburg) and program director at Reclam Verlag Leipzig before returning to academia and completing his habilitation at the University of Leipzig in 2003.

After substitute professorships for the political system of Germany (Leipzig ) and for political theory (Bremen), he became professor for the political system of Germany at the University of Leipzig in 2008, before being appointed to the chair of political education at the University of Erfurt in 2013.
