If you want to expand and deepen your economic know-how, the Faculty of Economics, Law and Social Sciences is the right place for you. The degree programme opened the door to my dream job. Today, I am a self-employed career and financial coach and support students in all (financial) economic issues relating to their studies. I used to be where my clients are, which is why I am all the more pleased to support and accompany them in achieving their goals.

Felix Rösel, Professor at the TU Braunschweig from the winter semester onwards

I studied Economics, Law and Social Sciences - Law concentration in Erfurt between 2007 and 2010 - in the middle of the major financial crisis. We often discussed late into the night what to do now. We often disagreed. And it was precisely this that led to strong friendships that have lasted to this day. Economics, Law and Social Sciences is the right degree programme for anyone who wants to understand the world, make it a better place and go through life with an open mind (https://www.tu-braunschweig.de/vwl/team/prof-dr-roesel).

Moving from a big city like Cologne to Erfurt for four years to study for a Bachelor's degree in International Relations was quite a change. But I really enjoyed Erfurt's beautiful old town, the summers with ice cream on the Krämerbrücke, the short distances everywhere and the vast expanses of nature around Erfurt. I particularly enjoyed studying at the University of Erfurt because of its interdisciplinary nature, the opportunity to go to Colombia for a semester and to take law as another minor subject alongside social sciences! The teaching is varied and interesting. I have learnt to really appreciate the advantages of a small university. For me personally, it was the best decision to come to Erfurt for my Bachelor's degree and I would recommend anyone to give Erfurt a chance!

Michael Kloß

Economics or law or sociology or political science? I couldn't decide after graduating from high school - and simply majored in economics and minored in law at the University of Erfurt. This made the Economics, Law and Social Sciences BA programme my recommendation for all those who can't or don't want to commit to one of the four subjects in advance.

Marieke Buchholz

It was above all the interdisciplinary nature of Economics, Law and Social Sciences that persuaded me to study in Erfurt. As part of the degree programme, you have many options to choose from and also have the opportunity to get to know subject areas other than your own through the Studium Fundamentale. Such diversity and flexibility are of immense importance, especially at the beginning of an academic career, in order to be able to discover your own specialisations.

I studied Economics, Law and Social Sciences and North American History at the University of Erfurt from 2003 to 2006. With its beautiful campus and well-equipped library, Erfurt has a lot to offer students and I always enjoy coming back to the Thuringian capital.

Alexander Weyand

As a non-Thuringian, I was extremely impressed by the beautiful study environment and the comparatively low cost of living (low rent, no tuition fees) right from the start. I quickly noticed the good transport links to the city as well as the traffic-free and very beautiful city centre with its numerous, sometimes very "quaint" bars and pubs.

From 2001 to 2004, I studied Economics, Law and Social Sciences with a B.A. specialising in Economics, and the University of Erfurt offers something that few state universities in Germany can match. You quickly make contact with your fellow students and as a student you can knock on the door of most lecturers at any time, even outside office hours.

Katharina Wenzel

When I think of the University of Erfurt, I see in my mind's eye a campus where you can feel at home, a library with large
windows and a wide view, and lots of hard-working students doing their studies.

Two and a half years in Erfurt (I spent the last semester abroad) - for me, that means above all a spirit of optimism as a first-year Economics, Law and Social Sciences student, close contact with the professors, low numbers of seminar participants and library opening hours until midnight and at weekends.

After graduating from high school and spending several months in Guatemala, I had great difficulty deciding which degree programme to choose from the wide range on offer, but I have not regretted my decision to study Economics, Law and Social Sciences - Economics concentration with a minor in Communication Sciences - in Erfurt.

"If you want to study well, go to Erfurt!" Almost 500 years after Martin Luther said this, the words of the former Erfurt student could hardly describe my personal image of the city of Erfurt and its university more aptly. Looking back, I can only warmly recommend studying at the Faculty of Economics, Law and Social Sciences.

Laura El-Khatib

"Economics, Law and Social Sciences...aha...hm...yes." - I often encountered this statement during my Economics, Law and Social Sciences degree programme at the University of Erfurt - and it was often answered with a "Economics, yes, I want to" on my part. Studying political science enabled me to combine knowledge from different academic subjects in a profitable interdisciplinary way. In addition, there are the advantages of a manageable campus university with a well-equipped library. After graduating in 2009, I said goodbye to Erfurt with a smile and a tear in my eye.
