Incapacity to Work
Every employee at the University of Erfurt is required by law to immediately notify the University of Erfurt of his/her incapacity to work or service and its expected duration.
Employees covered by collective bargaining agreements (and student/scientific assistants)
If the incapacity to work of employees covered by collective bargaining agreements who have statutory health insurance lasts longer than three calendar days, a notification must be submitted on the following working day at the latest. Electronic sick note must be made using the form below. To do this, you must have the existence of an inability to work and its expected duration determined by a doctor and obtain a medical certificate. Please then enter this data in the electronic sick note form.
The compulsory submission of a certificate of incapacity to work in paper form has been dropped for the above-mentioned group of people since 01/01/2023. Also, a notification by telephone or postal notification or notification by e-mail via the functional e-mail address gleitzeit@uni-erfurt.de to the flexitime officer should please only be made in exceptional cases. This also applies to employees of the Gotha Research Library.
If the incapacity to work lasts longer than stated in the certificate, you will need a new medical certificate and please also report the continuing incapacity to work via the electronic sick note.
Civil servants
If the incapacity for work of civil servants (or other employees with private health insurance) lasts longer than three working days, a medical certificate confirming the existence of the incapacity for work and its expected duration must be submitted to Department 2: Human Resources by the respective supervisor no later than the following working day. If the incapacity lasts longer than stated in the certificate, a new medical certificate must be submitted.
Further notes:
In individual cases, the university is entitled to require the submission of the medical certificate even earlier, from the first day of absence due to illness.
In case of early resumption of work before the expiration of the sick leave (employee:r is recovered prematurely and feels fit for work), please inform the Department 2: Human Resources by e-mail to gleitzeit@uni-erfurt.de and your respective health insurance company independently.
Absences due to illnesses of the child, rehabilitation measures and hospitalization with hospitalization certificate are excluded from the above procedure. In these cases, the notification and proof will still be in paper form. (If the employee is absent due to illness of the child, a copy of the first page of the sick bill is sufficient. For correct assignment, the name of the mother/father must be noted on the copy).
Beginning January 1, 2023, please use the form linked below to report your sick note.
Please note that a health notification is no longer required with the changeover to the eAU. The form is no longer available.
