About the Examination Board for the Master of Education Programmes
The examination board for the master of education programmes was implemented as a cross-sectional examination board in charge of the organization of examinations in the master of education programmes as well as tasks related to this function. The examination board is comprised of the Erfurt School of Education Director of Studies (chairperson) as well as eight additional members. The chairperson as well as the faculties’ deans of studies are members ex-officio. A dean can select another university lecturer to represent the faculty’s dean of studies permanently in his/her place. The Senate chooses one additional member among the group of university lecturers, one additional member from the group of research associates and two members form the students of the master of education study courses *. Members usually serve on the examination board for three years. Students usually serve a term of one year. Reelection is admissible.
*Director of Studies, academic personnel and students are elected if they are members of the ESE.
Duties and Responsibilities
- The members of the examination board make sure that the general examination regulations, which apply to every Master of Education programme, as well as the specific examination regulations of each of the individual teacher education programmes are adhered to.
- The examination board makes suggestions for improving the Master of Education programmes as well as their respective examination regulations
- The examination board has a quorum if, at the time of the vote, more than half of the members who are entitled to vote are present, section 2 paragraph 1 is adhered to and the session was duly convened.
- Resolutions are passed by a simple majority. If there is an equality of votes, the chairperson’s vote breaks the tie. The student representative is not entitled to contribute to assessing or crediting examinations or motivation letters.
- Members of the examinations board are entitled to be present during examinations.
- Examination board sessions are not public. Members of the examination board and their representatives are under the obligation of discretion. Members who are not civil servants have to pledge discretion to the chairperson.
