„Fakt oder Fake?“ // „Info ou infox ?“

The ‘Weimar Rendezvous with History’ (weimarer-rendezvous.de), which has been dedicated to a historical theme for one weekend every autumn since 2009 and discusses this with experts and members of the public in relation to the present day, is focusing this year on the topic of facts and fake news.

As in previous years, the Sorbonne Nouvelle – Paris 3 University and the University of Erfurt are organising a workshop for early-career researchers as part of this event. This year, the workshop is aimed at (prospective) PhD students working on the history of propaganda and the Enlightenment, of myths and historical narratives, or on the history of freedom of expression, press freedom, academic freedom and artistic freedom from 1500 to the present day, who wish to present and discuss their projects. Furthermore, the workshop serves to promote Franco-German exchange in modern and contemporary history and other historical disciplines within the humanities and social sciences.

Afterwards, there will be a joint visit to the opening event of the ‘Weimar Rendez-vous mit der Geschichte’. There will also be an opportunity to attend the panel discussions, lectures and events taking place on Saturday and Sunday.
