German studies is about the scientific consideration and investigation of the German language and German-language literature(s). The program is divided into the main areas of linguistics (linguistics) and literary studies.
German linguistics mainly deals with the structures and functions of contemporary German, linguistic varieties and the use of German in various communication situations. In addition, there are studies on the history of the German language and on the forms and functions of language change as well as on the position, system and use of the German language in the European context, which is characterized by multilingualism and interculturality.
German literary studies, on the other hand, deals with the structures, functions and characteristics of literary texts, with different genres, text and sign theories, with questions of historical poetics and current theories and methods of literature.
