Provision times for manuscripts and historical prints in the special reading room at Friedenstein Castle from 5 December 2022 onwards
Due to the seasonally low temperatures in the stacks of the Research Library Gotha, it is necessary for conservation reasons to air-condition ordered titles before use.
Therefore, from Monday, 5 December 2022 until further notice, the following provision periods apply to manuscripts and prints published before 1850
Holdings from the stacks in the castle:
Order before 9.00 a.m.: Use possible from 3.30 p.m. onwards
Order after 9.00 a.m.: use possible the following day
Holdings from the Perthes Forum: Provision within four working days
Holdings from the external storage: provision within two working days

Conditions of use during the pandemic
The current conditions of use are as follows:
A qualified (medical) mask, e.g. FFP2 or surgical mask, must be worn when entering the library and on all routes. This can be removed at the workplace.
Please keep a distance of at least 1.50 metres from other people throughout the library.
Use of the special reading room is possible after written or telephone reservation (2 working days in advance).
