Conditions of use during the pandemic

The current conditions of use are as follows:

  • A qualified (medical) mask, e.g. FFP2 or surgical mask, must be worn when entering the library and on all routes. This can be removed at the workplace.
  • Please keep a distance of at least 1.50 metres from other people throughout the library.
  • Use of the special reading room is possible after written or telephone reservation (2 working days in advance).

Restrictions on the use of printed works of the Gotha Research Library from 19 April to 15 August 2022

Due to the upcoming extensive renovation work on the east tower of Friedenstein Castle, the Gotha Research Library will have to move out large parts of the book collections housed there.


Lending / Reading rooms

From 19 April to 15 August 2022, large parts of our printed works will not be available for use.
Blocked stocks

The lending desk and reading rooms will remain open.

The manuscripts and the holdings of the Perthes Collection will continue to be fully usable during the aforementioned period.


Return

The return of borrowed media is still possible. Furthermore, items can still be returned at the circulation desk in Erfurt.
