What is the tension between identity-forming consumption and socio-ecological transformation? Drawing on specific consumption practices and their social contexts, the contributors analyse how, for example, drinking water, meat, plastic or houseplants shape individual and collective identities whilst simultaneously generating ecological consequences and conflicts.

Panel discussion with the editors of the ‘Ecological History of Ideas’ series, Marco Sonnberger (University of Stuttgart) and Dirk Schuck (University of Erfurt).
