Publication "The garden as an ideal space"

A contribution to the special exhibition "Garden & Religion?" has been published online as a result of the co-operation project between the University of Erfurt and the German Horticultural Museum (Deutsches Gartenbaumuseum).

The newly published work "The garden as an ideal space" combines student and university lecturer experiences. Garden & religion - how do these two topics fit together? Initiated by this question, an interdisciplinary special exhibition was opened at the German Horticultural Museum in 2024. It was largely designed by students from the University of Erfurt. Since 12 May 2024, visitors have been able to experience the fusion of garden experiences and religious practices, concepts and their material effects with all their senses, following 50 objects on display.

Now Dr Sara Kellerpresents the seminar's concept in a contribution to the special exhibition, framing texts by her Master's students: Following one key object, the Charbargh carpet, Aari Hönning, Carmen Wójcik, Elisabeth Stolle, Firas Moharram and Tim Kandora have drawn upon their studies and the exhibition to present different aspects of this object.

The work can be read and downloaded free of charge from the Digital Library of Thuringia: https://www.db-thueringen.de/receive/dbt_mods_00066107

In this way, the publication will contribute to the sustainable use of the contents even after the dismantling of the special exhibition. The exhibition has been extended until 31 October 2025.
