Handbook article on “self-effects” in the Encyclopedia of Political Communication

In what way does political communication influence the communicators themselves? Fabian Prochazka sheds light on self-effects in the Encyclopedia of Political Communication.

Self-effects describe the effects of communication on the communicators themselves - an aspect that has so far received little attention in media effects research.
In 2023, a group from the project study phase under the supervision of Fabian Prochazka investigated such effects in the context of political user comments on Instagram. In an article in the Encyclopedia of Political Communication, Fabian Prochazka now briefly summarizes the theoretical foundations and empirical results on self-effects in political communication.
The encyclopedia will be published later this year, click here for the preprint.
