From remote diagnostics to algorithm-driven treatment plans, artificial intelligence is playing an increasingly influential role in modern healthcare. These advancements are not only transforming clinical practice but also prompting urgent policy debates about data ethics, data privacy, regulation, and equitable access. As digital health technologies continue to evolve, understanding their societal and policy implications has become a vital area of inquiry for future public policy professionals.
To explore these themes, the Head of Digital Policy and Artificial Intelligence, Dr. Hasnain Bokhari invited Brandt School’s Alumna Dr. Heather Mikulski on May 19, 2025 for a guest lecture to discuss the intersection of digital health and public policy. The talk was organised as part of the graduate course, AI and Public Policy.
Dr. Mikulski’s lecture focused on three interconnected areas: the evolution of digital health technologies, the role of AI in healthcare, and the broader public policy implications of these innovations. She referred to the scope of digital health, highlighting tools such as electronic health records, wearable monitoring devices, and telemedicine platforms that are reshaping healthcare delivery.
