Heisenberg research funding for Junior Professor Solveig Richter

The programme is aimed at "outstanding scientists and scholars who fulfil all the requirements for appointment to a long-term professorship" and is intended to enable them to "prepare themselves for an academic leadership position and to work on advanced research topics during this time".

Solveig Richter is to receive funding for a research project on "Blended Legitimacy: Non-state actors of power and the transformation of political order in post-war societies", which she developed as a guest institution together with the Center for Conflict Studies at the Phillips University of Marburg. In the coming years, she will examine how a legitimate state order is reshaped after the end of a bloody civil war. Non-state groups in particular play a central role in this process, be they former violent groups such as rebels or patronage networks. The junior professor is planning field research in Kosovo, Mali, Colombia and the Philippines and would like to expand her research network with scholars from the Global South.
