International symposium "DEFA-Grenzenlos: Mobility and Space"

The event will focus on the topic both in terms of content and institutionally: The contributions will deal with the content of space and place, or mobility – in the sense of travelling and movement in space – as a theme of cinematic exploration. On the other hand, the diverse transnational interdependencies of DEFA are thematised, among other things with regard to the institutional framework conditions of film export and import.

This dual perspective is intended to broaden the view of DEFA film's sphere of production and impact and embed it in a transnational context. In doing so, both new paths will be explored and considerations already begun will be continued.

Researchers from all disciplines who are interested in the topic are cordially invited to participate. Following the conference, the contributions will be published in a timely manner.
