A new article by JProf. Dr. Fabian Prochazka in the recently published Handbook of Journalism Research summarizes research on the concept of journalistic quality. In addition to deriving different normative foundations for quality dimensions (democratic theory, systems theory), the article highlights three aspects in particular: How quality is ensured in journalism, the empirical state of the actual quality of media reporting and how audiences perceive the quality of journalism.
