The Senior Brandt Fellows are distinguished practitioners who contribute extensive leadership experience and professional networks to the school’s academic community. They support the program through guest lectures, adjunct teaching, and student mentoring.
Dr. Anna-Maija Mertens brings more than a decade of leadership experience in compliance and anti-corruption, including serving as a full-time Executive Board Member of DICO (Deutsches Institut für Compliance e.V.) and as former Managing Director of Transparency International Deutschland e.V.. The Brandt School particularly looks forward to expanding cooperation with her as Senior Brandt Fellow through the Integrity Policy Network, an initiative that contributes to evidence-based policymaking worldwide and advocates for greater justice and accountability worldwide.
“Integrity creates resilience – from within,” said Dr. Mertens. “It enables the strength, stability, and adaptability our societies need. And it is the foundation of functioning processes and sustainable societies. I am therefore delighted to contribute to the Integrity Policy Network (IPN) – to shape, to make an impact, and always to keep learning.”
Aletta Haniel Professor Heike Grimm, initiator of the IPN, expressed enthusiasm about Dr. Merten’s new appointment: “She brings exceptional expertise in compliance and anti-corruption, supports our recently established Integrity Policy Network, and is passionately committed to advancing these efforts within our community."
