Short Biography
Dr. Anna-Maija Mertens has served as a full-time Executive Board Member of DICO – the German Institute for Compliance (Deutsches Institut für Compliance e.V.) since 1 April 2024. She previously spent more than nine years as Managing Director of Transparency International Germany, and before that was Executive Director of the Finnish Institute in Germany.
Since September 2024, Dr. Mertens has been the voluntary President of the European Movement Germany (Europäische Bewegung Deutschland e.V.) and contributes to a range of advisory bodies. Trained as a political scientist, she teaches Political Decision-Making at the Berlin School of Economics and Law and Anti-Corruption at the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy at the University of Erfurt.
Dr. Mertens holds dual German and Finnish citizenship.
