Colloquium Global History (summer semester 2025)

In the summer semester 2025, the colloquium Global History took place again on 3 July 2025 at the Centre for Transcultural Studies / Perthes Collection in Gotha. Ongoing research work was discussed as part of the colloquium. Mara Albrecht (Erfurt) contributed a lecture entitled "Freiwilliges Polizieren in ‚westlichen‘ und postkolonialen Kontexten (1960er–1980er Jahre)" at the end of the colloquium. The event was rounded off with a summer party organised by the Centre for Transcultural Studies and a workshop on "Geschichte als Beruf" the following day.

Winter semester 2024/25

Colloquium Global History (winter semester 2024/25)

In the winter semester 2024/25, the colloquium Global History took place on 16 and 17 January 2025 at the Centre for Transcultural Studies / Perthes Collection in Gotha. In addition to the previously submitted papers, archive and research reports were also presented. One highlight was the evening lecture by Felix Schürmann (Frankfurt) entitled: "Die Spur der Steine. Geologie und Tragik in einem untergehenden Kolonialreich, 1913–1915", in which he presented his ongoing research on Frankfurt's colonial history.

Colloquium Global History (winter semester 2023/24)

On 29 and 30 November 2023 this year's colloquium of the Chair of Global History took place in cooperation with the research group "The Other Global Germany. Transnational Criminality and Deviant Globalisation in the 20th Century" which brought together doctoral candidates and postdocs to discuss their ongoing research projects. A public evening lecture was also held in this context: Dr Paul Franke (University of Marburg/Centre Marc Bloch) presented his recently published book "Feeling Lucky. The Production of Gambling Experiences in Monte Carlo and Las Vegas".

The colloquium entitled "Global History - History of Knowledge - History of Cartography" took place in the 2014/15 winter semester. In addition to the large number of academic lectures, the workshop on the topic of "Area Histories - Territorialität - Prostitution" (22/23 January 2015) formed a central part of the colloquium.
