Oliver Erdmann receives DAAD grant

Doctoral candidate Oliver Erdmann has received a grant from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to fund a three-month research stay abroad as part of his doctoral project.

Erdmann, who is a scholarship recipient of the University of Erfurt's graduate center "Texts. Signs. Media.," will spend three months in late 2022 at the University of Chicago. In Chicago, he will work with Patrick Rankine, a leading scholar in the field of Black Classicism whose Ulysses in Black constitutes a milestone in this field. Erdmann's doctoral project is called Black Classicism in 21st Century African American Literature.
