Library card: thoska

The thoska (Thuringian University and Student Services Card) can be used as a library card. It is recognised as a library card by university libraries throughout Thuringia and, in addition to functions for borrowing, renewing, reserving items and managing your own library account, also features an integrated electronic wallet for cashless payments.

It therefore also serves as a photocopying card for photocopying, scanning, and printing.

It is also possible to pay overdue fees using the card.

If you are a member of staff at the University of Erfurt, please contact the library’s service desk to activate your thoska as a library card.
Any previous library card must be returned and will cease to be valid.

Students at the University of Erfurt receive the thoska as their student ID card. It is activated as a library card when they register at the library.

Other individuals can obtain a thoska library card for 10 euros when they register to use the library.

The thoska e-wallet can be topped up at the relevant machines.
Amounts of at least €5 and up to €100 are accepted.

The machines for top-up with the student identity card (thoska), which accept EC, debit or credit cards, are located in the library foyer (minimum top-up amount: €20) and in the cafeteria area (where cash is also accepted; minimum top-up amount: €5).

For technical reasons, the minimum balance must be €0.23.

Any credit on your student identity card (thoska) that is no longer required can be refunded at the thoska top-up machines.
