Special reading room / Amploniana

Holdings

Manuscripts, incunabula and old prints are subject to special conditions of use for conservation reasons.

They are made available in the special reading room on the 2nd floor.

Certain groups of holdings and individual items may be subject to restrictions on use for conservation, legal or other reasons. If necessary, reproductions must be used. Reference literature on the historical holdings is arranged in the special reading room as reference holdings according to the Regensburg Union Classification.

Registration

To use the special reading room you need a valid library card. The use of manuscripts is only possible with at least one day's advance notice, stating the academic purpose. Students and doctoral candidates require a written reference from their lecturer.

Catalogues and orders

Incunabula and old prints can be ordered via the online catalogue for the special reading room. A smaller part of the historical holdings can only be accessed via handwritten and printed catalogues, which are located in the Special Reading Room. To order items from these catalogues, please fill out a loan form, which is available on site.
The catalogues ordered will be made available on the following working day during opening hours. Please register for use by e-mail in the special reading room.

Ordering reproductions

Requests for reproductions are accepted by the employees of the Special Reading Room. Information on the type and scope of scanning and reproduction services is available at the information desk of the Special Reading Room.

Workplaces

There are 15 workstations available for using the historical holdings. Microforms can be used on two readers and a reader printer. Two PC workstations are available for research in the library's online catalogue, in local databases or on the Internet.
For book-friendly scanning of the reference collection, the special reading room is equipped with aoverhead scanner. You will need a USB stick for storage.

Reproductions of manuscripts, old prints and volumes requiring special protection can still be ordered using a reproduction form.
