The need for financial support to make academic publications from the University of Erfurt accessible worldwide via open access remains as high as ever in 2026. As at 1 September, the Erfurt University Library had been able to grant a total of 71 funding approvals. Of these, 57 were for journal articles, nine for edited volumes and five for monographs, including doctoral theses. Fifty-two of the 57 journal articles were funded under cost-reducing open access agreements with publishers.
Due to the high level of uptake of the university’s internal funding scheme, the budget available for the Publications Fund this year has now been exhausted. New funding applications cannot therefore be considered for the current year. The Erfurt University Library will provide information on the funding options for 2027 as soon as possible.
