Event: Presentation of restored Amploniana manuscripts

The Erfurt University Library has succeeded in acquiring funding to restore three manuscripts from the Bibliotheca Amploniana.

The Thuringian Ministry of Education, Science and Culture bears a large part of the costs as part of the "Conservation of Written Cultural Assets" funding programme; the University of Erfurt contributed its own funds.

One of these manuscript restorations was particularly complex and costly, so that it had to be carried out by a specialised paper restorer. In an event on

Tuesday, 30 June 2026 at 5 p.m. in the Special Reading Room of the Erfurt University Library (2nd floor)

the project will be presented to the public.

In this context, photos of the previous state will be shown, the restoration work explained in detail and the results presented on the originals.
