Armin von Schiller

Short Biography

Armin von Schiller is research fellow at the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE) and co-lead of the research project “Social cohesion in Africa”. His work focuses on social cohesion and fiscal governance in developing countries, with a special emphasis on tax performance, revenue administration and tax morale. He is also a specialist in the evaluation of interventions in the governance sector and led from DIE-side the GIZ-DIE project “Impact Initiative Africa”. Armin has extensive field experience, in particular in Latin America and Africa and he has taught at various international universities including the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), Heidelberg University and University Clermont Auvergne.

Armin has published, both scholarly and policy‐oriented, on the topics mentioned above. For instance, his work has been published in the Journal of Development Studies, Journal of International Development and Political Behavior.

Armin holds a M.A in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Konstanz and received his PhD from the Hertie School of Governance. He has done, among others, consultancy work for the GIZ, the European Commission and UNU- WIDER.
