Funding Acknowledgement

Increasingly, universities, research institutions and funding agencies are supporting scientists to publish research in open access. In some cases, open access publication is even mandatory for grant recipients. If you recieve financial support, you should clearly state in your publication which institution has financially supported your research and/or publication process.

With the "Funding Acknowledgements" you express your gratitude for the funding and contextualize your research performance.

Funding by the Publication Fund of the University of Erfurt

In case of successful funding by the Publication Fund of the University of Erfurt, we ask for a reference to the funding in the article. Exemplary formulation is:

"Supported by Open Access funds of the University of Erfurt."

In german-language journals:

"Gefördert aus Open-Access-Mitteln der Universität Erfurt."

further hints

  • please use your university e-mail account for communication with publishers
  • for uploading your articles please use the university network if possible (also eduVPN)
  • please indicate your institutional affiliation at the University of Erfurt correctly, so that the assignment to the institution in the submission process and bibliometric analyses and entries in databases (e.g. Web of Science) can be done correctly. Please note the correct spelling based on the ROR-ID

Requirements of the DFG

The DFG funding guidelines (chapter 13.1 Pflicht zur Veröffentlichung (Obligation to publish) [GER]) regulate the inclusion of funding acknowledgements. The project participants themselves are responsible for inserting a funding acknowledgement. A reference to DFG funding should be included in the following form:

"funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) – Projektnummer(n)".
