Dr. phil. Gbadebo Collins Adeyanju

Dr. Adeyanju is a Senior Researcher and Lecturer (since 2017) in Global Health at the Department of Media and Communication Science, University of Erfurt, Germany. His work lies at the intersection of behavioural and social sciences, public health, public policy and health communication, with a strong focus on understanding and improving health-related decision-making in low- and middle-income countries. Before joining the University of Erfurt, he worked with the Federal Government of Nigeria and several international development organisations in Nigeria and Germany, gaining extensive experience in public policy, health systems, and the evaluation of donor-funded intervention programmes. This background informs his current research, which integrates behavioural and social science approaches to generate evidence for policy and practice. Dr. Adeyanju currently leads BMFTR-funded projects, MisGenMas and IMPACTS, supported by the German Alliance for Global Health Research (GLOHRA). These projects examine the Drivers of Misinformation, Gender Disparities and Masculinity in Vaccination Decision-making in Sub-Saharan Africa, as well as Investigating Motivations, Practices and Unintentional Consumption of Toxic Skin-Lightening products. His research contributes to advancing behavioural science in global health, supporting evidence-based policy change, and promoting positive health-seeking behaviours across diverse sociocultural contexts in Sub-Saharan Africa.
