"Erfurter Forum Asphaltnomad:innen"

The subproject "Possession and Habit" at the University of Erfurt in the Collaborative Research Centre "Structural Change of Property" invites you to a conference entitled "Nomad Properties" at the "Kleine Synagoge" in Erfurt on 1 and 2 July 2022. In this context, the cultural event "Erfurter Forum Asphaltnomad:innen" will already take place on 30 June. The public is invited to the space for exchange in Erfurt's open-air club "Frau Korte" at the Nordbahnhof from 2 pm. Admission is free.

The supporting programme will bring travellers and their descendants as well as pop culture into the discourse. Travellers and travellers from Germany who live nomadically or have such a past are invited to give short input lectures. This will be followed by a fishbowl discussion in which the present and future of nomadic lifestyles in Germany and beyond will be discussed. The evening will begin with a joint dinner and then, from 8 pm, a film programme on the topic of "Nomad Properties" will be shown.

The evening will end with a thematically tailored DJ set with Team Vindig alias Noxe & Stress. At the venue, the exhibition "Vaga-Wanderkoffer" by Beat Gipp will be on show at the same time. The exhibition shows motifs of street life and impressions of nomadic life in Germany.

The international academic conference taking place on 1 and 2 July in the Kleine Synagoge will bring together scholars from Germany, Poland, Great Britain, China and Russia who will examine the relationship between nomadism and property from a variety of perspectives.
