With this award, the University of Erfurt wants to acknowledge the commitment of university members who have made an outstanding contribution to internationalisation. Currently eligible for the award are international projects that have already been launched and have a particular impact on the university campus, as well as tried-and-tested cross-border formats for cooperation in teaching and research. The overall aim is to consolidate and implement international study content or formats in the long term, thereby raising the university's profile in a national and international context.
The following measures and projects are particularly recommended:
The prize may be awarded to one or more individuals. University members, faculties and central institutions may submit nominations or apply themselves. In addition, the Student Council may submit nominations. Individual applications must be accompanied by at least one letter of recommendation, which should not be written by someone from the same department.
The deadline for nominations is 30 September 2025.
The prize money is €3,000 for first place and €2,000 for second place. It can be used for international projects in teaching and research and is intended to provide targeted support for existing activities or new international collaborations.
The commitment to internationalisation should be adequately demonstrated in the application form.
The Senate Committee for International Affairs will make a preliminary selection and propose the winners to the Presidium. The prize will be awarded by the Vice-President for International Affairs.
First prize went to the project ‘Ecuador3: Students in inclusive education, teaching and research’ led by Dr Amelie Abarca Heidemann.
Second prize was awarded to the project ‘Internationalisation and Digitalisation of Teaching’ coordinated by Dr Hasnain Bokhari at the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy.
The target group is all professors and research assistants who demonstrate or have demonstrated a high level of commitment to the internationalisation of the University of Erfurt.
How strong is the project's impact beyond the UE, i.e. does it strengthen the UE's visibility at national or even international level, e.g. in the form of cooperation, but also in the form of outreach to non-university areas?
