With its campus run, the University of Erfurt is adding another attractive competition to the Thuringian running calendar. Together with the Universitätssportverein Erfurt e.V., the university invites running enthusiasts to compete over the ten-kilometre course as well as the 5 x 2 kilometre team run and Bambini run (400 m) on the campus in Nordhäuser Straße.
On Boys'Day pupils gain an insight into occupational fields that boys rarely consider in the career orientation process, e.g. primary school teaching. The nationwide Boys'Day programme is also held at the University of Erfurt. The target group is primarily pupils in grades 9-12.
The date for the next Boys'Day will be announced here in good time.
The Erfurt Science Slam, a scientific lecture competition to which the University of Erfurt cordially invites all interested parties, has become a permanent fixture in Erfurt's calendar of events.
What is it about? Under the motto "Science on stage!", the slammers each have ten minutes to present their research projects in an entertaining way that everyone can understand. All aids are permitted. The aim: to inspire the audience and win the Erfurt Science Slam Cup !
It takes place every two years – the "smartest night of the year" or, in other words, the "Long Night of Sciences" in Erfurt. Together with Erfurt's universities, the HELIOS Clinic and numerous other companies and institutions, the city of Erfurt invites all Erfurt residents and guests to experience science in the truest sense of the word.
A whole evening full of lectures, exhibitions, presentations and experiments. Variety is guaranteed, as scientists and experts from regional companies open the doors to their laboratories, cleanrooms, operating theatres, archives, lecture halls and production facilities for the "Long Night of Sciences". Visitors have the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes, find out details of current research work at first hand and ask lots of questions. And, of course, you can also join in.

Once a year, Erfurt's children get really big. That's when, always in autumn, the Erfurt Children's University takes place, where the little rascals can put up their eavesdroppers, sit in real lecture halls like the grown-ups and ask the children's heart conquerors, who are called professors here, questions. Of course, there is also a real student ID card: as a visible sign of participation, the children can enter their name here and receive a stamp for every lecture they attend. Once the six stamp fields are full, there's a children's university certificate to hang on the wall.
Every year, new and exciting topics await the mini-students. For example, why a rabbit doesn't need glasses. Or who Mr Shakespeare actually was. Or why not every Cinderella can become a princess. Whether you are 5 or 15 years old – the events are designed for different age groups and participation is free of charge.

Every year in March, the University of Erfurt campus becomes a meeting place for little bookworms. This is when the university's subject area "Didactics of German at primary level" organises the children's university "All about books". The event is part of the Erfurt Children's Book Days and aims to make children curious about literature. Every day for a week, the children can sit in a lecture hall like the grown-ups and listen to a lecture dealing with a wide variety of genres such as fairy tales, mythology, children's literature classics and children's literature in film and theatre. This is followed by various seminars and workshops on the respective topics, in which the children can deepen their knowledge.
