"The University of Erfurt sees itself as a gender-equitable and diversity-sensitive university. Gender and diversity competence are important topics in teaching. Dealing constructively with diversity is combined with the aim of actively promoting students in their diversity and providing them with the best possible support in developing and acquiring skills. Care is taken to ensure that gender equality and family friendliness are promoted and that an open and positive understanding of diversity is practised on campus."

From the foreword: "Addressed to students, teachers, pupils and lecturers, suggestions and exercises are intended to provide orientation and impulses for gender-equitable and gender-sensitive teaching and learning practice. The aim is to promote and strengthen the gender and diversity competence of teachers at schools and universities. Three focal points will guide this objective: the conscious perception of gender stereotypes, the reflection of language and gender and the gender-conscious design of teaching and learning processes. Within a structure of theoretical explanations and questionnaires and a variety of practical suggestions, exercises and media references that structure these focal points, theory and practice are to be profitably interlinked for the implementation of a gender-equitable school and university landscape."
