Finja Augsburg starts research stay as DAAD/AGI Research Fellow at Johns Hopkins University

Finja Augsburg begins her research stay at the American-German Institute in Washington, D.C., to investigate the role of scientific uncertainty in transatlantic dialogue.

Finja Isabel Augsburg is starting as a DAAD/AGI Research Fellow at Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C. The research stay will run until mid-December and will examine the role of scientific uncertainty in transatlantic exchange on socio-scientific topics with a focus on relations between Germany and the USA.

Augsburg is a doctoral candidate and project associate at the University of Erfurt, researching communication in social crises. Her appointments include the Goethe-Institut Washington, the Public Diplomacy Section of the US Embassy Berlin, and a Visiting Scholar engagement at the University of Texas at Austin. During her time at the American-German Institute, she conducts literature analyses and interviews with experts from science and politics to shed light on the opportunities and risks of scientific uncertainty in dialogue.

Most recently, Finja Augsburg presented her research on the role of scientific uncertainty in science diplomacy as a panellist at the DWIH Future Forum 2024 at Johns Hopkins University and contributed to a related edited volume that is currently in print.
