Professor Hiram Kümper comes to Gotha as a Friedenstein Fellow

In January, the University of Erfurt awarded the Friedenstein Fellowship at the Gotha Research Centre for the first time.

It is intended to help continue the academic activities after Professor Martin Mulsow's retirement at the end of March 2026 and to keep the connection to the Gotha Research Library and the other institutions in Gotha alive.

The historian Professor Hiram Kümper (Mannheim) was selected because his twelve-month concept for his stay in Gotha fits in extremely well with the research profile of the Gotha Research Centre and also links source material from the Gotha Research Library and the Thuringian State Archives – Gotha State Archives in a methodologically innovative way. Professor Kümper is expected to take up the fellowship on 1 June 2026.
