The author
Rainer Benkmann, born in 1952, was Professor of Education for Learning Disabilities at the Faculty of Education at the University of Erfurt until 2017 and continued to work there as a Senior Professor until 2019. From 2011 to 2018, he served on various committees of the Thuringian Ministry of Education, Science and the Arts dealing with inclusive education. His research and work focus on school inclusion, professional development, biographical research and the socialisation of children living in poverty.
