From 5 to 6 March 2026, Dr Gabriele Ball (University of Göttingen) and Dr Hendrikje Carius (Gotha Research Library) will host the conference „Kommunikationsräume vernetzt“ at the Gotha Research Centre of the University of Erfurt.

It examines the spaces of communication and knowledge at the Gotha court under Duchess Luise Dorothea and Duke Friedrich III of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg. The focus is on the interconnections between private libraries, societies and correspondence, through which the court participated in the literary and scientific debates of the Enlightenment. The programme will be published on the project website in good time.

Registration is possible until 6 February 2026 by e-mail to gabriele.ball@theologie.uni-goettingen.de or hendrikje.carius@uni-erfurt.de.
