Information from the organisers
In his input, Max de Baey-Ernsten will provide an insight into the current state of research on the political opinion-forming of young people on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. He will highlight the tension between new information options and opportunities for participation as well as risks such as disinformation and radicalisation. The lecture takes into account the interplay of user behaviour, social dynamics and the attention economy of the platforms. The role of political actors, public media and newsfluencers will also be discussed. Finally, a positive perspective is opened up: How can digital spaces be designed constructively and in a way that promotes democracy in the future?
After the lecture, there will be room for questions and discussions, which may result in pedagogical options for action.
