Dr Barbara Schlomann will speak on the current status of climate protection in Germany as well as opportunities and measures to achieve climate targets as part of the joint lecture series "Welt im Wandel" (World in Transition) organised by the University of Erfurt, FUNKE Medien Thüringen and the Thuringian state parliament.

In her lecture "Klimaschutz unter Druck – warum er weiterhin zählt", Barbara Schlomann, Chair of the Expert Council for Climate Issues, will talk about the status of climate protection in Germany, current challenges and measures needed to achieve climate targets. As one of the most important voices in the German climate debate, she will also explain the role of scientific advice in assessing the effectiveness of German climate policy and discuss the opportunities that a forward-looking, science-based climate policy offers for the economy and society.

The lecture begins at 6.15 pm in Lecture Hall 2 of the Centre for Communication and Information (KIZ) at the University of Erfurt.

All interested parties are cordially invited. Admission is free. Registration is requested.

Background:

Since the 2018 summer semester, the University of Erfurt has been organising a lecture series in cooperation with FUNKE Medien Thüringen and the Thuringian state parliament. On usually three dates per semester, alternating topics from politics, business or social life are discussed – each by a guest from academia, journalism and politics. All interested parties are alternately invited to the state parliament and the University of Erfurt.
