Guest lecture and subsequent discussion.

Frank Richter, former director of the Saxon State Centre for Political Education and member of the state parliament from 2019 to 2024, has been accompanying and advising asylum seekers and people at risk of deportation for several years. At this event, he will use specific and documented case studies to shed light on the practices of authorities and courts. He will also report on several visits to the deportation prison in Dresden.

His experiences - more than 15 people have now been saved from deportation thanks to his efforts – lead him to conclude: "In many places, arbitrariness reigns de facto in the practice of asylum and deportation." With the support of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, he suggested the staged reading "Abschiebung nach Aktenlage", which consists exclusively of original quotes from the authorities and has already been performed several times in public.

The event provides an in-depth insight into a highly topical and controversial subject at the interface of law, politics and human destinies. Following the lecture, there will be an opportunity for discussion and questions for the speaker and a fireside chat in the Speicher from 8.15 pm.
