Lecture by Dr Christine Ott (University of Würzburg) as part of the series Childhood and Media Education Lecture by the Thuringian Institute for Childhood Education at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt and the Workshop for Media Education at the University of Erfurt

What makes a medium an educational medium? What do textbooks, academic textbooks and guidebooks have in common, what separates them? Such definitional questions are not academic self-reflection, but concern academic thinking and work at its core: What is my object of investigation?

The lecture presents possibilities for systematisation. It also attempts a historical sketch of the term "educational media", which is closely related to the English-language term "educational media", but may not be entirely congruent with this term.

The series of lectures on childhood and media education is a co-operation between the Thuringian Institute for Childhood Education at the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt and the Workshop for Media Education at the University of Erfurt.

It is not necessary to register for the event.
