Café "Hörsaal 7" remains a place to stay

Good news from the Student Services Organisation (Studierendenwerk): The "Hörsaal 7" café will remain open to students at the University of Erfurt. After the Easter holidays, the premises will be available from Monday to Thursday from 11am to 8pm and on Fridays from 11 am to 3 pm. Self-service hot drinks can be purchased from the vending machine with the student identity card (thoska). According to the Studierendenwerk, it is "conceivable" that the vending machines could be expanded to include snacks, for example.

In doing so, the Thuringian Student Services Organisation (Studierendenwerk) is responding to the wishes of students who, as recently reported as recently reported had campaigned strongly for the café to remain a place for learning, socialising and meeting. “'Hörsaal 7' is an important meeting place for us. Here we can exchange ideas, prepare presentations, visit the "Café International” event series, simply be together. There is hardly any other place on campus for this. That's why the cafeteria shouldn't be a bonus, but a matter of course – as should the coffee at reasonable prices," explained the students at a protest in January.

The "Café International Erfurt" event series will then take place again in "Hörsaal 7" at the start of the semester – for the first time on 14 April at 8 pm.
