Organizer information

Join us for our upcoming event “Elections without Democracy? Hybrid Regimes in Southeast Asia” with Dr Deasy Simandjuntak, who has taught and conducted research in Taiwan, Singapore, and Freiburg (Germany).

In her lecture, Dr Deasy Simandjuntak will introduce the concept of hybrid regimes and explore how elections can coexist with non-democratic systems, typical campaign strategies employed, and how “Asian values” are invoked to justify limited political reforms. The Academic Association for Security Studies Erfurt (Hochschulgruppe Internationale Sicherheitspolitik) warmly welcomes all students and guests interested in democracy, political systems, and Southeast Asia.

Everyone is highly welcome - we look forward to seeing you there! No registration is needed.
